
Kelly Jean Smith is a representational fine artist living in Saratoga Springs, NY. She specializes in portraiture and figurative work in oil and charcoal and enjoys plein air often with Urban Sketchers in the summers. She earned her Master’s in Fine Art from SUNY New Paltz and in 2022 completed a yearlong mentorship online program with Visual Arts Passage in illustration. From 2007 - 2020 she attended weekly life drawing sessions at Saratoga Arts and has taken numerous workshops in portraiture, figure drawing and oil. She has taught introductory drawing, figure drawing, and oil painting classes at Saratoga Arts, The Art Center of the Capitol Region, and The Atelier at Arlene’s. She also taught drawing with Beta Community Programs before and after school classes for grades k-5. She was recently awarded an Individual Artist Grant from the Saratoga Arts Regrant Program for 2025 and looks forward to creating a new body of work for her exhibition in October of ‘25. She is available for private lessons and commissions.
